We can confirm that the following exhibitors from Acorn World 2009 will be in attendance at the RISC OS London Show on Saturday 3rd October:

  • Retro Software (brand new games for the BBC Micro, Electron and RISC OS)
  • Mark Haysman of RetroClinic.com will again be demonstrating and selling his array of BBC Micro upgrades such as the CF-Flash IDE Interface and Datacentre (USB Connectivity and more)
  • The Hybrid Music 5000 and M4000 Keyboard setup will be making another appearance, courtesy of RetroClinic.com
  • The Acorn Gaming Tables will be present and on display will be an Atom w/ AtoMMC, Electron w/ GoMMC, BBC Micro w/MM-Beeb plus a RISC PC - all fully loaded with games
  • Chris Whytehead will present the BBC Domesday System as well as a RISC iX machine
  • Neil Fazakerly - maintainer of the BeebControl/RisControl website - will be at the show, armed with a selection of Robotic Arms and other mechanical devices.

An additional talk has been confirmed for tomorrow (Sunday).

Mel Pullen - designer of the official Acorn Teletext Adaptor - will shed some light on both SoftMachinery and The Gnome @ Home before participating in an audience-driven Q&A.

Thanks to Neil Spellings we will be able to display the infamous RISC PC Pizza Oven which was originally featured in the multi-slice 'Rocket Ship' RISC PC demonstrated at Acorn World 1995.

Acorn World/Retro Reunited has now sold out - thanks to everyone who's bought a ticket.

If you are not in possession of a ticket please do not travel to Huddersfield as tickets will not be available on the door.

We can confirm that Bryan Hogan will be representing the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) at the show.

In addition to the London Users Group, Bryan will also be promoting the RISC OS London Show which takes place on Saturday 3rd October.

The timescale for the Saturday Interviews at Retro Reunited have now been confirmed and the Q&A with the ex-BBC games programmers (Matthew, Kenton, Jamie) will be taking place between 2:00pm - 2:45pm.

20th August 2009

Matthew Atkinson, Kenton Price and Jamie Woodhouse have kindly agreed to participate in an informal Q&A about the Acorn Games industry, which will take place on Saturday afternoon.

The Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club will have a stall at the show and will provide demonstrations of various RISC OS Software Packages, running on an assortment of hardware.

N.B. The WROCC replaces the 2 x stalls marked 'Miscellaneous BBC exhibits' on the previous version of the floorplan.

18th August 2009

Jamie Woodhouse - who wrote both Qwak and the recently-released Zap! - will be a guest at Acorn World 2009.

Attendees will be able to purchase the new PC version of Qwak at a discounted price.

14th August 2009

Kenton Price - author of Ripton and the BBC Micro port of Starquake - will be in attendance.

Kenton will also give visitors the chance to play on the latest games-related project that he's involved with: Mole Miner for Android Mobile Phones and (soon) the iPhone.

Bob Wakelin - who designed the cover-art for an abundance of games published by Ocean/Imagine Software (including on the BBC: Match Day, Hyper Sports, Mikie, Wizadore, Daley Thompson Super-Test and Mr Wimpy) - will participate in an interview and Q&A on the Saturday afternoon.

Update: unfortunately, Bob has had to cancel due to his current workload.

Sprow Computer Products can now be confirmed as an exhibitor at Acorn World 2009.

We are delighted to announce that Professor Stephen Furber - a principal designer of both the BBC Microcomputer and ARM microprocessor - will give a talk about The Heritage of the BBC Micro at Acorn World 2009.

Topics covered will include construction of the prototype BBC machine that was demoed to staff at the BBC, as well as the design and manufacture of the ARM microchip.

Stephen will also give an insight into his current research interests, such as the SpiNNaker project: a bold attempt to emulate the interactions of the human brain, utilising an estimated one million ARM processors.

The talk will take place in the Emley Suite at 2:30pm on Sunday 13th September and will last for one hour. There will be an additional 30 minute provision to allow for questions.

Matthew Atkinson has been confirmed as the first Guest at Acorn World 2009.

Matthew is best known for writing the BBC Micro and Electron versions of REPTON 3 and also ULTRA INTELLIGENT MACHINE for the BBC Micro and Archimedes.
